Q. What is Big Data?

A. Big data is a buzzword, or phrase, used to describe a massive volume of both structured and unstructured data that is so large that it’s difficult to process using traditional database and software techniques.Big data usually includes data sets with sizes beyond the ability of commonly used software tools to capture, curate, manage, and process the data within a tolerable elapsed time. Interested in reading more about big data and how to start with it.

The next thing that comes to your mind Cloud. Let see what is Cloud.

Q. What is Cloud?

A. Cloud is the biggest buzzword around from last few years.  In this article we will discuss cloud in the context of the Big Data. Cloud computing is a method of providing a shared computing resources to the application which requires dynamic resources. These resources include applications, computing, storage, networking, development and various deployment platforms. The fundamentals of the cloud computing are that it shares pretty much share all the resources and deliver to end users as a service.

Few Examples of Cloud Computing are Google, Amazon and Rackspace. Google and Amazon both have fantastic Big Data offering with the help of the cloud.

Lets see the cloud deployment models.

Public Cloud : Public Cloud is the cloud infrastructure build by commercial providers (Amazon, Rackspace etc.) creates a highly scalable data center that hides the complex infrastructure from the consumer and provides various services.

public cloud

Private Cloud : Private Cloud is the cloud infrastructure build by a single organization where they are managing highly scalable data center internally.

private cloud

Hybrid Cloud : A hybrid cloud service deployment model implements the required processes by combining the cloud services of different cloud computing systems, e.g. private and public cloud services. The hybrid model is also suitable for enterprises in which the transition to full outsourcing has already been completed, for instance, to combine community cloud services with public cloud services.

Service Model :

Cloud computing providers offer their services according to several fundamental models: infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and software as a service (SaaS) where IaaS is the most basic and each higher model abstracts from the details of the lower models.

  • Infrastructure as a service (IaaS)
